End-to-end automation in Washington’s next-gen onion facility

This Onion Factory of the Future features full automation of all production processes, from cleaning and grading to internal logistics, temporary storage, packing and palletizing. It boasts unprecedented information gathering per onion, maximum traceability, and minimal manual labor. 

Following a successful first project, this U.S. client once again placed their trust in us to develop their new facility in Washington State. In addition to selecting the Eqrader™ optical onion sorter and our cleaning and packing solutions, they invested in fully automated internal logistics. Eqraft’s shuttles, lifts, and roller tracks replace traditional forklifts, integrating seamlessly with Viscon’s fully automated warehouse.

We greatly appreciate the close collaboration with the client, contractors, and fellow vendors, which is ensuring a successful project. As with many of our projects, we are also relying on the expertise of our Onion Tech Alliance partners Modesta and Symach for active cleaning, residual flow handling, and palletizing.
